Medical

Aetna

  • Broker Bonus:For groups effective through December 1, 2019, California brokers can earn an added $50 per employee on groups of 1-74 enrolled or $100 per employee on 75+ enrollments. Click here for more information.

 

Anthem Blue Cross

  • New Large Group Contract: Word & Brown has signed a new Large Group contract with Anthem Blue Cross. This contract includes: groups of 101-500 enrolled, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability. For more information, click here.
  • Contract Extension:Anthem Blue Cross has successfully renewed its contract with Palomar Health, including Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital – both in San Diego County
  • Q4 Processing: Anthem Blue Cross is now processing new business cases for Q4. Electronic debit forms for 11/1 will process on 10/14, while forms for 12/1 will process on 11/15.

 

Blue Shield of California

  • Network News: Blue Shield of California has added PrimeCare Empire Physicians Medical Group to its Trio network in the Inland Empire.
  • Relaxed Participation: The 25% relaxed participation for Blue Shield of California Medical for 5+ enrolled employees continues through December 31, 2019.
  • Broker Bonus: The Blue Shield of California broker bonus program continues for Small Business Medical effective through 1/31/2020. You can earn $50 per enrolled new member for off-exchange plans plus an additional $50 when a member enrolls in a Trio HMO or Tandem PPO plan. Click here for details.

 

CaliforniaChoice

  • Anthem Rx Benefit Change: For members with new coverage or a renewal effective 10/1/19, Anthem Blue Cross is removing tiered copays for generic prescription benefits for all plans, except Silver HMO B, Silver EPO B, and Gold HMO B.
  • Initial Quote: Quoting CaliforniaChoice just got easier with their redesigned Initial Quote, which includes:

-Overview: Introduces CaliforniaChoice and highlights the features that set the program apart from other health care options.
-Census: Verifies the accuracy of each employee’s information in your group census to ensure your client quote is comprehensive.
-Budget: Our simple formula streamlines budgeting and allows your clients to set a contribution amount toward each employee’s benefits.
-Ancillary: Your proposal includes a rate summary for Dental, Vision, Chiropractic & Acupuncture, and Life and AD&D. Plus, CaliforniaChoice’s Smart Decision Technology makes it easy for employees to find their doctors, look up Rx coverage, and compare plans based on the premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and more.

Health Net

  • Large Business Portfolios: Health Net’s 2020 Enhanced Choice and Starting Line-Up (SLU) portfolios offer a strong mix of benefits and extra-value programs – making them attractive to your clients and easy to sell. All are ready to quote for 1/1 business.
  • Large Group Bonus: Health Net’s “Two Ways to Win” program offers you two opportunities to earn a bonus on groups of 101+ effective through 12/31/2019. You’ll earn a $50 bonus for each enrolled employee – plus an additional $50 per employee if the case is a “win back” (enrolled with Health Net effective 1/1/13 or later).   • Large Group Underwriting: The limited-time “Together With Health Net” program gives you more opportunities to write 101+ groups through Health Net in combination with another carrier through 12/31/2019. It offers flexible participation requirements, a choice of Select Enhanced Choice plans, and a 50% employer contribution on Health Net’s lowest-cost plan.

 

Kaiser Permanente

  • Reduced Payroll for Startup Businesses: Through January 1, 2020, new small businesses that have not been operating long enough to file a DE 9C for a full quarter can qualify for Kaiser Permanente coverage by providing four weeks of payroll records showing one or more eligible employees.
  • Reduced Participation and DE 9C Requirements: Small Groups with an effective date through January 1, 2020, may qualify with only 50% of eligible employees enrolled. Those with at least six employees enrolling do not need to submit a DE 9C until the group goes through recertification.

 

Oscar Health Plan

  • Rate Reduction: Oscar has reduced rates effective 10/1/19 by 3.88%. If you are writing Small Group business in Los Angeles and Orange counties, ask Word & Brown for an Oscar quote.
  • Broker Bonus: You can continue to earn up to $75 per enrolled employee through December 15, 2019, in Oscar’s Small Group Broker Bonus program. The bonus also applies to CaliforniaChoice Click here for the Oscar bonus flyer.

 

Sharp Health Plan

  • Lower Rates: Sharp Health Plan has announced the lowest ACA Platinum, Gold, and Silver metal tier Small Group rates in San Diego. Click here for details, or download the Sharp Health Plan rate sheet.

 

 

Ancillary

Blue Shield of California

  • Relaxed Participation Reminder: BSC has extended its 25% relaxed participation requirements through December 31, 2019, for Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance for groups with five or more enrolled employees. Click here for the program flyer.

 

Choice Builder

  • Delta Dental: Choice Builder’s deal with Delta Dental offers your clients the lowest Delta Dental rates on any similar products in the marketplus a multi-year rate guarantee on plans effective through 12/1/19.
  • Possible DeltaCare USA Premium Change: Your Choice Builder groups with DeltaCare USA Dental could see a premium change at renewal as premiums switch from each employee’s ZIP Code to the employer’s ZIP Code.

 

Humana

  • Bundle Bonus: Earn a bonus of up to $500 on Small Group enrollments where you bundle Dental, Vision, and Life. (Minimum of five employees enrolled in Dental and two in Vision.) For groups of 100+ eligible, you can earn a 3% annualized premium bonus for Dental or Vision. Click here for more information.
