Ancillary Can Help You Meet the Needs of More Large Group Clients

As employers consider changes to their benefits programs in response to changing employee attitudes, Ancillary benefits are becoming increasingly important. According to an analysis by Expert Market Research, the outlook for the Ancillary Insurance market is good – with a projected compound annual growth rate of 9.2% between 2022 and 2027.

Perhaps more important, last year’s MetLife Annual Employee Benefits Trends Study revealed more than half (57%) of employees want benefits not currently being offered by their employers.

Workhuman’s 2021 survey of business owners and benefits managers found that nearly two-thirds of employees (63%) would quit if another employer offered them better benefits, even if it offered less or equal pay.

Employee loyalty is on the decline. In 2018, 80% of employees told MetLife they intended to be with their current organization in 12 months. However, four years later, that number was down 10% -- with 70% saying they plan to be with the current employer in one year.

Ancillary insurance lets your group clients expand their benefits offering without increasing their costs. That’s because Ancillary benefits – Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Health (like Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, and Disability Insurance) – can be employer-sponsored or voluntary. When it’s voluntary, employees pay the full cost.
