Meet The Team

As Director of Underwriting, Alejandra (Alex) Navarro leads Word & Brown’s award-winning Underwriting department. She is the main point of contact for all underwriting escalations, rushes, and access to care opportunities as well as a subject matter expert for various general agency initiatives. 

Alex began her insurance career in 2008 as a Recertification Coordinator at CHOICE Administrators, Word & Brown’s sister company. The following year she moved to Word & Brown, taking the first step in what would be a successful career in the Underwriting department. As an Underwriting Administrator, she quickly mastered the process and honed her skills with a focus on detail, speed, and accuracy. That led to her promotion to Underwriter in 2012. 

Alex has collaborated with several departments throughout her career to provide feedback to help improve W&B’s underwriting system. As a subject master expert, she helped create the underwriting quick reference guides that our internal and external partners still use today. She was instrumental in helping the team transition to remote work and was recognized for her efforts and promoted to Team Lead in 2021. 

At her peak, Alex was assigned more than 100 Elite brokers, all while maintaining a high level of quality for her cases. In recognition of her outstanding work, she was promoted to Manager of Underwriting where she helped the team elevate the quality standard by 10%, while also achieving back-to-back months of perfect quality with three primary reporting carrier partners.
